Privacy Policy
Learn English is made by London Jobs ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the app has no accounts, and your learning stays on your phone.
What we collect
Nothing about you personally. There is no sign-up, no login, no email address, no name, no age and no advertising identifier. We do not have servers that store anything about you, and we cannot identify you.
What stays on your phone
- Your progress: which words you have practised, how well, and when they are due again.
- Your streak, your daily goal and your flowers.
- Your settings: your language, British or American English, theme, sound and reminder choices.
This is stored in the app's own private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it. We never receive a copy.
The microphone
Speaking practice ("Say It", "Read aloud" and the pronunciation coach) needs the microphone, and Android asks your permission the first time. While you are speaking, the audio is handled by the speech recognition service built into your phone — on most phones that is Google's. Depending on your phone's settings and which language packs it has, that service may process your speech on the device or send it to the provider's servers. That processing is covered by your phone's own privacy settings and by that provider's policy, for example Google's Privacy Policy.
The app itself does not record, save or upload audio. It receives only the text of what was recognised, uses it to colour the words on screen, and then discards it. Nothing you say is stored. You can use the whole app without the microphone; only the speaking exercises need it.
Internet use
Almost everything ships inside the app and works offline: words, pictures, recordings and translations. A small number of pictures are fetched from our file storage at Cloudflare R2 when you first see them. Such a request carries no information about you beyond what any web request carries, such as your device's IP address, which Cloudflare handles as its own customer data.
The contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to us by email through Resend, the service that delivers it. We keep the message in our email so we can reply, and nothing is stored on this website. Please do not put passwords or other sensitive details in it.
Notifications
The optional daily reminder is scheduled on your phone by the app itself. No push service is used and no token is created, so no one outside your phone knows you have a reminder set. You can turn it off in Profile, or in your phone's settings.
Crash reports
Crash reporting is switched off in the published app. If we enable it in a future version, it will send only technical details of a crash — the error, the device model and the Android version — to Sentry, and this policy will be updated first. It would never include your voice, your progress or anything you typed.
Things we do not do
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No analytics or tracking of how you use the app.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is nothing to sell.
- No location, contacts, photos, files or call data.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. If a child uses it, nothing about them reaches us.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete. All the information the app creates is on your phone and under your control: clear it from Android's app settings, or uninstall the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date. Changes that affect what the app does with your information will also be described in the app's release notes.
